"Where are you?" Theodore finally asked.
Eleanor looked thoughtful. "You won't believe me."
"Try me," he urged.
"I’m in the year 2239."
Theodore stared at her, stunned. "Fifty years into the future?"
Eleanor nodded. "I know it sounds impossible."
Theodore looked down at the watch, amazed.
"After last night, 'impossible' doesn't seem to mean much anymore."
Both of them laughed. For the next hour, they talked about everything—their favorite books, their hobbies, and their childhood memories. Theodore told her about his passion for fixing old clocks, and Eleanor shared that she worked at a historical archive, preserving ancient records.
"Most people don't care about history anymore," she said sadly. "But I love it."
Theodore smiled warmly. "Maybe that’s why this watch chose us."
Eleanor’s cheeks turned a soft pink. For the first time, Theodore noticed how truly beautiful she was.
