Chapter 2: One Hour at Midnight · Page 1 of 3Overall 4 / 46 · preview 5
Theodore could hardly sleep that night. Over and over, he thought about the mysterious watch and the girl named Eleanor. Was it real? Or had he just dreamt the whole thing?
The next morning, he checked the silver watch. It looked completely normal. No blue light, no moving picture—nothing.
Theodore sighed, disappointed. "Maybe I just imagined it all," he said to himself.
The entire day felt unusually long. He tried working on his clocks, but his mind kept wandering back to Eleanor. Who was she? How could she talk through a pocket watch? And what did she mean when she said, "It worked"?
As midnight approached, Theodore found himself checking the clock every few minutes. His heart began to race.
11:58 PM.
11:59 PM.
Then—12:00 AM.
Suddenly, the watch began to glow with a soft blue light. Theodore quickly pressed the button. And there she was—Eleanor, smiling at him.
"You're back," she said.
Theodore couldn't stop smiling. "So, it wasn't a dream."
Eleanor laughed softly. "No, you’re very real."
For a moment, they just looked at each other. Even though they were complete strangers, talking to her felt comfortable, like meeting an old friend he hadn't seen in years.
